Groene lobby op de EU loonlijst

Het woord ‘lobbyen’ roept associaties op van smoezelige achterkamertjes waar politici of ambtenaren worden omgekocht door sluwe fabrikanten. Om die reden zijn er in diverse landen regelingen om de invloed van deze lobbyisten binnen de perken te houden. Op zich is met ‘lobbyen’ niets mis, maar we moeten wel een open oog voor de risico’s ervan houden. Vanuit dat oogpunt is het bijzonder om te ontdekken dat de Europese Unie de lobbyisten voor de groene zaak wel een hele speciale behandeling geeft. Ze zijn namelijk op de loonlijst gezet. van de EU dus.  [Lees verder]

Europe has a new enemy (apart from itself)

Have the United States just committed an act of war against Europe? It looks very much so but the victim, Europe, is silent and seems to find it embarrassing to even talk about this huge attack on the continents’ energy infrastructure. No protests towards the US from Europe are heard. Probably that is because we also need the US to supply us with super-expensive gas. And we need US military protection against evil Russia as well. Better shut up then.

Een Europa? Laat me niet lachen!

Dit verhaal,   werd oorspronkelijk geschreven voor het Nederlandse tijdschrift MAN, maar verscheen daarna ook nog in The Guardian, The New European, El Europeo,  Die Woche en The Phenix. (en er kwam ook een leuke reactie op) 

In het magische jaar 1992 gaan de Europese grenzen open, en wordt de Europese gemeenschap EEN land. Een volk: Belgen, Fransen, Italianen, Nederlanders, het worden allemaal broeders en zusters. [Lees verder]
